Editor's note: The Chinese term "dama", or middle-aged women, was a buzzword in 2013 as they began investing in gold, bitcoins and overseas property markets in a crazy rush. In many young people's eyes, "dama" have only bulging pockets and empty heads. A good representation of this Chinese term would be the person's energy, spirit, positive attitude and enthusiasm towards life.
Born in the 1950s or 1960s, most of the "dama" experienced a poor childhood and had to work very hard when they were young. They tried their best to save money in order to provide better lives for their children. Now, their children have grown up. Thanks to their retirement pensions, they finally have more free time and money to enjoy happy lives for themselves.
