Editor's note: A German youth soccer team led by Klaus Schlappner, the first foreign coach to manage the Chinese national soccer team in the 1990s, recently visited a kindergarten in Qingdao, Shandong Province. The young German players gave a demonstration of their wonderful ball skills to Chinese children and teachers. At the same time, they were deeply impressed by traditional Chinese culture, such as dumpling-making and types of facial make-up in Beijing opera. The German youth soccer team came to China to attend the Fourth China-German Youth Football Tournament (U16), which was held in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, August 18-24. The annual event started in 2012 to link youth soccer teams of the two countries and promote the development of soccer at this level in China.
