People may wonder whether they have stumbled an undiscovered imperial palace, when first seeing the campus of the Institute of East China Jiaotong University in Jing'an, Jiangsu Province.
The campus, surrounded by rolling mountains, features complexes based on architecture from various dynasties, including the Ming (1368 - 1644) and Qing (1636 - 1912). Staff from the university told Beijing Youth Daily that the campus, which cost a total of billion yuan (14 million U.S. dollars) to build, could accommodate over 5,000 students, and is expected to be put into operation in May.
They added that the buildings, complete with exquisite antique appeal, have been built in a bid to promote Chinese classical architecture, while also providing art students a resort where they can practice sketching royal palaces from life. (Photo/Nangchangxiaoyuan Weibo)
