There's a new look coming to the People's Liberation Army. As of August 1, 2017 – the 90th anniversary of the PLA – a new summer uniform will be worn, which sees caps replacing the more traditional berets. Officials say the new headgear highlights Chinese elements and PLA characteristics, which are in line with the faces and temperament of Chinese soldiers.
