| Sunzi: The Art of War is the first Chinese classic he ever translated. He had always had a keen interest in this military treatise, which he believes actually has an anti-war theme. According to him, the book is an exemplar work of military philosophy. In his retirement, Lin spent three months translating Sun Bin: The Art of War, another masterpiece of ancient Chinese military wisdom, a translation that would become its first English edition.
