Editor's note: Huamao Village is located in Guizhou, one of China's most underdeveloped provinces suffering badly from poverty. It is the focus of a four-day tour by foreign and Chinese experts to exchange opinions under the title of "Progress along the Long March of the New Era", which opened in Zunyi City in Guizhou Province on Nov. 21, 2017.

Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the village in June 2015. He visited greenhouses, financial centers, and bamboo and pottery workshops to learn how poverty reduction projects are running.

During the tour, Xi chatted with the villagers, saying the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee cares a lot about farmers, particularly those living in poverty, and has enacted various policies to boost rural development.

He said, "A good life is created by using one's own hands, so poverty is nothing to fear. If we have determination and confidence, we can overcome any difficulty."

Local officers told Xi that, because of their beautiful village and the scenery surrounding it, Huamao had become a popular destination for wedding photoshoots.

In recent years, Huamao Village has made ceaseless efforts to efficiently alleviate poverty. The village has worked on producing an overall plan to further tap local development potentials and witnessed the fast development of agriculture, revolutionary culture, pottery culture, and industrial development.
