Quzhou, an ancient city in southeast China, staged a visually stunning 3D light show on the evening of Feb. 15 to celebrate Spring Festival.
The 3D light show projected dazzling lights onto the facade of the city's iconic old wall in Shuitingmeng Park to present local residents with a spectacular display at around 6 p.m. on Chinese New Year's Eve.
The theme of the display was culture and future. The 11-minute light show consisted of three parts — "Dreaming Quzhou," "Charming Quzhou" and "Future Quzhou."
The "Dreaming Quzhou" part featured Confucius and Go, which made Quzhou famous, to demonstrate the city's long history and rich culture.
The "Charming Quzhou" part showed the city's picturesque landscape and its modernization drive.
The "Future Quzhou" part envisioned a bright future of the city with a stunning display of scenes such as high-speed trains and passenger jets.
"This is the first large 3D light show that has ever been staged for the city," said Jiang Liping, head of the Lighting Work Center of the Municipal Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. "We spent a month preparing the show, in order to bring local citizens a visual feast during Spring Festival."
"Quzhou has a rich culture," said Xu Xiaoxin, a local resident. "The city is just like a big garden and people can smell the fragrance of each flower in the garden only through feeling by heart."
Statistics showed that a total of 42,000 visitors watched the light show at the night on Chinese New Year's Eve.
The light show will be put out between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. on every night through March 3.
A series of cultural celebrations will be displayed during Spring Festival, including Changshan Cheering Folklore, Nianbadu Puppet Show, Wu Opera, and Bamboo Horse Show.
