A total of 46 Chinese artists, with 45 pieces of their artworks, have been invited to participate the 14th Curitiba International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Brazil later this month. Their work will be exhibited in the Oscar Niemeyer Museum and the Municipal Art Museum.
Opening on Sept. 21, the 14th Curitiba International Biennial of Contemporary Art will be spread across seven museums, 20 galleries, and more than 20 mobile public spaces in Curitiba, until March 1, 2020.
In 2009, Chinese artists were fist invited to participate in the Curitiba Biennial for the first time. This year marks their sixth appearance, and their artistic creativity and inspiration so far have deeply impressed the Latin American audiences.
The organizing committee of the Curitiba Biennial is proud of its role in bringing contemporary Chinese artists to the Latin American art stage and in fostering artistic creation and communication between the two countries.
Founded in 1993, the Curitiba International Biennial of Contemporary Art is one of the most influential international biennials in Latin America and around the world. This year's curators are Tereza de Arruda and Adolfo Montejo Navas, and the theme of the exhibition is "Open Borders."
The main exhibition will take place in the Oscar Niemeyer Museum, which is the largest such facility in Latin America, measuring about 35,000 square meters.
Curitiba is in southern Brazil, with Paraná as its capital. It is often called the country's cultural center and is one of its most visited destinations. The Curitiba Biennial has played a pivotal role in contributing to the area's fame.
