Luis Suarez's four-month ban is due to end on the exact weekend that his Barcelona side face Real Madrid.

Spanish BBVA Primera Liga Champions Atletico Madrid will begin their title defense with a Madrid derby after the calendar for the 2014-2015 Spanish football season was confirmed on Thursday.

Atletico will not line up against Real Madrid, who they will also play in the Spanish Supercup around the start of the season, but away to Rayo Vallecano in the first game of the campaign which will be played over the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of August.

FC Barcelona will begin their campaign at home to Elche, while Real Madrid will entertain newly promoted Cordoba in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

As usual the dates for the 'Clasico' between Barca and Real Madrid are also the focus of attention and this season there will be added spice as the first meeting between the two sides will be on either the 25th or 26th of October in the Santiago Bernabeu.

What gives the extra spice is the fact that if the game is played on the 25th of October, Luis Suarez will not be able to play for Barca as that is the last day of the four month suspension he was handed by FIFA for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini in the World Cup finals.

However, should the game be scheduled for October 26, Suarez could in theory make his Barcelona debut away to Real Madrid (although match fitness would obviously be an issue).

Other standout dates are the Madrid derby between Real and Atletico Madrid, which will be played in the Bernabeu on September 13, while newly promoted Eibar will play their first ever top-flight match at home to neighboring Real Sociedad.

Meanwhile it has also been confirmed by the Spanish Football League (LFP) that this season will see them adopt the 'vanishing spray' which was introduced in the recent World Cup finals in order to ensure players keep the correct distance when defending set pieces.

The spray will be used in both the Primera Liga and the Liga Adelante (Second Division).
