Chinese wins yellow jersey after third stage at Tour of Hainan

Arman Kamyshev from Kazakhstan's Astana Pro Team (AST) won the third stage at 2014 Tour of Hainan Cycling race on Wednesday while Chinese rider Wang Meiyin put on the yellow jersey.

Kamyshev took the third stage in three hours, five minutes and nine seconds as Wang took the overall lead from Italian Nicolo Bonifazio of Lampre-Merida Team.

Wang from Hengxiang Cycling Team also has the blue jersey for best Asian rider and Italian Andrea Palini of Lampre-Merida Team obtained the green jersey for the best sprinter.

"I was very lucky to become the first Chinese rider putting on yellow jersey. I hope to keep the jersey in later races with the help of teammates," said Wang.

The third stage, featuring three sprints, started at Haikou, the capital city of Hainan, and finished at the city of Wenchang in northeast of Hainan, covering a total distance of 136.5 kilometers.

The next stage of the nine-day tour is from Wenchang to Qionghai, covering 145.8 kilometers.
