Britain's Andy Murray shakes hands with Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov after winning the third round match in Paris.

British No. 1 tennis player Andy Murray has qualified for sure for the ATP World Tour Finals next month in London with a convincing win over Grigor Dimitrov to reach the BNP Paribas Masters quarterfinals here on Thursday.

It was four months ago when the Bulgarian knocked Murray out of the Wimbledon Open in straight sets.

The 27-year-old Scott, currently world No. 8, was taken just little over an hour on Thursday afternoon to sweep No. 9 seed Dimitrov 6-3, 6-3 in an impressive way.

Murray broke serve in as early as the third game before sealing the first set 6-3 with a second break of serve. He then wasted no time, racing into a 3-0 lead in the second set before wrapping it up in straight sets.

"There were no downs really in the match," commented Murray. "I played well from start to finish. I made it very difficult for Grigor. Hardly made any mistakes all throughout the match."

"It was good," he added. "I don't think he had any break points either, so obviously served well and played well behind my serve."

After the match, Murray wrote "Bad Year" on the courtside camera lens, but the Scott said it's not a jibe at his critics who have said he had a poor season.

"It's a bit of fun," he said. "Of people who are going to ask me all the time why I've had such a poor year by my standards, you 're allowed sometimes to say something in response to that."

He skipped last year's Finals due to his back injury, and his rank dropped really hard after losing his quarterfinal clash to Dimitrov at the U.S. Open. The London trip will be his seventh straight Finals having qualified for.

His victory on Thursday, however, denied Dimitrov's possible qualification to the Nov. 9-16 Finals in London as the Bulgarian must reach semifinals to stand a chance.

Murray is playing his sixth straight week at the 2,884,675 euros Paris Masters after finished on top podium for three times in his five previous tournaments.

The eighth seed will play his quarterfinal encounter against the winner between Frenchman Gael Monfils and world No. 1 Novak Djokovic of Serbia who meet each other late on Thursday.

"It will be tough regardless of who it is," he said. "Gael obviously loves playing here. He has big support here. The fans love watching him.

"And Novak has played some great tennis over the last few months, winning Wimbledon, and is No. 1 in the world again. He's obviously going to be very motivated as well trying to finish the season No. 1," he added.
