Guangdong secured their regular season champion after beating Zhejiang 129-119 despite the new scoring record of 82 points by Zhengjiang's Errick McCollum in Friday's Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league match.

After Zhejiang cut the deficit down to only one point, Guangdong stormed a 11-0 in the third quarter to lead by a two-digit margin before the match turned into an one-man-show. Zhejiang showed no interest in defense in the late fourth quarter, just letting their rival score as quick as possible so McCollum had enough time to break the 75-point record of Quincy Douby.

McCollum finished his 82 points scoring show with a fast break two-hand dunk, while Guangdong won their 26th game in a row to become the regular season champion.

Defending champion Beijing played without pressure, established a 35-16 advantage in the first quarter over Jiangsu and smashed their opponent 133-99. Veteran Zhang Qingpeng led Beijing with 40 points and nine three-pointers.

In the 4-for-5 contest for playoff berth, Jilin had their ninth straight win defeating Tongxi 124-109 at home to grab one ticket.

Former NBA guard Von Wafer contributed 55 points, five rebounds and four assists to help Shanxi beat Fonshan in overtime win of 146-139. Guangsha downed Dongguan 112-102. The two winners respectively became playoff teams.

Xinjiang surprisingly lost to Fujian 125-131, leaving them no choice but to win in the last round and hope for Dongguan's loss to Beijing. Otherwise the last season's runner-up will miss this year's playoff.

In other matches, Bayi lost to Shanghai 71-89; Sichuan beat Chongqing 110-108; Shandong edged out Tianjin 110-101, Liaoning defeated Qingdao 109-104.
