The 2017 ISU Shanghai Trophy will be held at Oriental Sports Center in Pudong New Area on November 24-26, the International Skating Union announced on its website.

The Shanghai Trophy was first held last year and featured short track speedskating and synchronized skating. It was the first time that the ISU had called a tournament after a city's name, an event where both Winter Olympic and non-Winter Olympic competitions are held at the same time.

In its second year the event will add figure skating to its menu — free skate for men's and women's singles, pairs and ice dance.

The figure skating event will feature the top-eight ranked skaters from the 2016-17 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, as well as the top three skaters from the Junior Grand Prix series.

Skaters of ISU members ranked in the first 24 (both men and women) in the 2017 ISU World Short Track Speedskating Championships will earn personal entry quotas for the 2017 ISU Shanghai Trophy. A new event — mixed team competition — will be also be held, with each of the 12 teams consisting of two men and two women skaters.

The Shanghai Trophy is scheduled no more than 100 days ahead of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Some of the world's top winter sports athletes will use the Shanghai event as a warm up for the Olympics.

Ticket sales begin on September 21.
