Liaoning beat defending champions Xinjiang 110-108

Leading by 30 points in the first half, Liaoning stayed strong to have a tough 110-108 road victory over Xinjiang in Wednesday's second round of the CBA.

Liaoning had a dream start of 20-5. Shirelijan Muxtar fired two three-pointers to help the home team cut the deficit down to 28-15 at the end of the first quarter.

Liaoning extended their lead after the break, leading with 56-26 after Guo Ailun's consecutive three-pointers and Li Xiaoxu's slamdunk. Lester Hudson kept a 9-9 shooting record to help the guest team finish the first half 63-42.

The defending champions began to revive after the interval, storming 23-7 and 18-4, trimmed the gap to only one point. Point guard of the national team Zhao Jiwei shot behind the arc to help Liaoning lead by 110-106 then he fouled on Darius Adams. The latter hit two free throws before Shirelijan's last-second three-pointer missed the target.

Hudson had 33 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals, Guo Ailun contributed 16 points and seven assists. Adams of Xinjiang scored game-high 38 points. His teammates Shirelijan and Yu Changdong both had 17 points.

37-year-old former NBA player Luis Scola had phenomenon performance in Shanxi's 140-121 victory over Qingdao, contributing 45 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists for Shanxi.

A new personal career record of seven three pointers in one game from Shi Hongfei helped his team Jiangsu beat Fujian 125-116 after overtime.

In other games tonight, Guangsha took out Zhejiang 103-97, Jilin defeated Bayi 99-87.
