French skier David Poisson, World Championships medalist, accidentally died in his training in a Canadian ski resort, French Skiing Federation (FSF) said on Monday.

FSF did not elaborate on the accident, adding that it would provide additional information as soon as possible.

Poisson, 35, won men's downhill bronze medal at the 2013 World Championships in Schaldming, Austria. He represented France in 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Poisson fell victim of a crash in his training in the Canadian skiing resort of Nakiska, as preparation for the upcoming World Cup in North America.

Poisson also finished third in World Cup downhill held in Santa Caterina, Italy in December, 2015.
