Chinese woman shot putter Gong Lijiao, who dominated the Asian Games event on Sunday, has set her eyes on Tokyo Olympic Games, she told Xinhua on Monday.

Gong, who consolidated her winning status with her first throw at 19.09 meters Sunday evening, admitted that the only gold medal she is short of is from the Olympic Games. "In Tokyo, my only target is to win." Her closest rival Sunday evening was her teammate Gao Yang, who made at 17.64 meters.

The Chinese shot putter, who began her career 18 years ago, has been leading the season with the distance of 20.38 meters, which was set in Guiyang, China on June 17. Gong is the only thrower who supassed 20 meters in the world this year.

"I have my own rhythm in competitions," she said. "In Jakarta, I knew I would take the gold. However, I need to reach my own target of 19.50 meters." She completed the mission with her sixth and last appempt of 19.66 meters.

"Winning competition is important, but what is more important is to improve yourself everytime," added Gong. "If you are content with your low-level winning result, you will put yourself in a tough situation in high level competitions such as the Olympic Games."

Gong will travel to Brussels for the Diamond League meet which will be held on August 30 and 31. "I will have a better result there than in Jakarta." she vowed.
