The agent of Real Madrid's Welsh international forward Gareth Bale has rubbished reports in the Spanish press linking the player with a return to his former club Tottenham Hotspur.

Spanish sports newspaper Diario Marca wrote on Tuesday morning that Real Madrid were prepared to sell Bale for 50 million pounds, around half what they paid for him in 2013.

Madrid are aiming to further add to their squad ahead of the new season and are known to want to sell Bale after already signing Eden Hazard, Rodrygo, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Luka Jovic this summer, but Jonathan Barnett, who represents the Welshman, was quick to deny any rumors.

"I never comment on rubbish," he said, when asked by Sky Sports about the possible move.

It is not the first time Barnett has denied that the 30-year-old will leave Real Madrid this summer, saying in June that there was more chance of him winning a horse race at Royal Ascot.

Bale's wages, which are rumored to be around 600,000 pounds per week, would be a major stumbling block to any club wanting to buy a player with a poor injury record, and Barnett has also ruled out a loan deal.

Bale is currently in Montreal with the rest of the Real Madrid for pre-season training, but with the transfer window in the Premier League - his most likely destination - due to close on August 9, any move for Bale will have to happen over the next three and a half weeks.
