Zhao notches career-high 29 points to put Liaoning back on winning track

Star defender Zhao Jiwei scored a career-high 29 points here on Friday to help the Liaoning Flying Leopards back to winning ways by defeating the Beijing Royal Fighters 122-108 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

Following Wednesday's 118-111 loss to the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, the CBA leaders recovered soon enough to reap their 15th win in 17 matches in the 2020-21 regular season.

Han Dejun had 20 points and 11 rebounds for Liaoning with Guo Ailun and Zhang Zhenlin adding 22 and 14 points respectively.

Liaoning grabbed 48 rebounds, compared to 31 for Beijing.

"Today our defense worked pretty well and we showed our dominance inside the paint," said Liaoning coach Yang Ming. "If we have less turnovers, we will be a better team."

Liaoning recorded 19 turnovers, compared to 11 for Beijing.

Yu Changdong had a career-high 28 points and 10 rebounds for the Royal Fighters, who slipped to an 8-9 win-loss record after suffering their second loss in a row, while Hou Yifan added 23 points.
