Midfielder Willian has returned to his former club Corinthians on a free transfer after parting ways with Arsenal, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Monday.

The 33-year-old will be tied to Corinthians until the end of 2023 after the London outfit agreed to terminate his contract two years ahead of schedule.

"My football career began here. After 14 years I'm back to write a new chapter in my history at the club I love," Willian said in a message posted by Corinthians on Instagram.

Willian made his professional debut for Corinthians in 2006 before moving to Shakhtar Donetsk the following year. He also had spells with Anzhi Makhachkala and Chelsea - where he spent seven years - before joining Arsenal last August.

He joins a slew of other high-profile signings for the Sao Paulo club in the past month, including midfielders Giuliano and Renato Augusto, right-back Joao Pedro and forward Roger Guedes.
