Forward Ricardo Goulart could join Santos on a free transfer after parting ways with Guangzhou FC, according to media reports in Brazil.

But the eight-time Brazilian Serie A champions face competition for Goulart's signature from Fluminense, who have also held talks with the 30-year-old following his departure from the Chinese Super League club in November, Globo Esporte reported.

Goulart scored 110 goals in 174 matches for Guangzhou after his 2015 move from Cruzeiro. He helped the club win three Chinese Super League titles and the Asian Champions League.

Traditionally one of Brazil's biggest clubs, Santos have not won a major national or international trophy since the 2011 Copa Libertadores.

It is understood Goulart has been offered the chance to wear the No. 10 shirt that was famously worn at Santos by Pele.
