The Ministry of Transport said on Tuesday that it has so far ensured the smooth flow of traffic and maintained COVID-19 epidemic containment during the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

It has arranged inbound and transfer services and trips to the competition venues for over 15,000 athletes, volunteers and staff members involved in the Games.

Han Jinghua, the vice director of the ministry's services department, said at a news conference in Beijing on Tuesday that the ministry has worked to offer diversified, safe services to athletes and volunteers, both in and out of closed-loop management.

"For those in closed-loop management, we have arranged regular buses, taxis and bullet trains," he said. "Those working out of the closed loop can take metros and buses for free using their travel cards."

Han said that the ministry also oversaw traffic during the opening ceremony of the Games on Feb 4 by providing 916 buses and 5 passenger train services.

"We'll continue to tighten up epidemic control measures and transport services to keep the Winter Games secure," he added.
