Former coach of the Chinese ski jumping team Mika Kojonkoski may take over the Polish side as the Finn is ready to return to the hill.

The contract of the current Poland coach Michal Dolezal is valid until the end of the season. Dawid Kubacki won a bronze medal at Beijing 2022 on the normal hill, but Dolezal's future remains in question as the Polish Ski Association counted even on something more.

"I want to continue working with this staff, but the association must also have this will. For now, I feel their support. But I don't know what the future will bring. This season has to be completed, and there is still much to fight for. We want to give ourselves and the fans a little more pleasure," Dolezal was quoted as saying by Polish media on Thursday.

However, in Poland it is believed that the association has already started to seek Dolezal's successor. One of the possibilities is hiring Kojonkoski, who led China's ski jumping team until October 2021.

"When I was running a project in China, I thought it was the end of my coaching career ... but now I'm serious about going back to training," Kojonkoski said.

"I'm not speaking about speculation now because I don't want to disturb the peace at the Olympics. However, I can say that there were several contacts," he added.
