China's star striker Wang Shuang took off from Wuhan Tianhe International Airport to reunite with the women's national football team in Qingdao on Friday, after recovering from a bone fracture that she picked up during the Asian Cup.

For the past 80 days, the 27-year-old footballer has been nursing the injury in her hometown Wuhan, where she underwent tailored rehab programs from a team of therapists, fitness coaches and three teenage teams.

According to Cheng Yang, a rehab expert with Hubei Institute of Sports Science, who has accompanied Wang for the past three months, Wang has recovered quite well. "Seen from the evaluation data and the weekly competitions she participated in for the past six weeks, her cardiopulmonary ability, lower limb strength, running distance and acceleration ability all improved significantly," Cheng said.

And the footballer felt the same. "I think I am recovering well, but it will take some more time for me to gel with my teammates and the head coach, who I haven't met since late March," she noted.

"However, I also believe that I can quickly adapt to the pace of the national team and the requirements of the head coach."

Upon her reunion with the national team, Wang was thrilled. "My heart is full of expectations and excitement, and I may even have to try my best to control such emotions on the football pitch in the coming days," she said.

Wang expects to make her debut after recovery on July 20 in the East Asian Football Championships in Japan.

"I'm really excited. It's the first match I'll participate in since February," she said. "And I'll give 200 percent of my effort to show a good spirit on the field, to play at my level and win the game."
