China's Luo Zongshi beat Lo Chia-ling of Chinese Taipei to claim her first 57kg world title on the opening day of the 2022 World Taekwondo Championships on Monday.

Luo has also won at the 2022 World Taekwondo Grand Prix in Rome, Paris and Manchester.

"I won many titles this year, which makes me more experienced. Thanks to my team and coaches, they helped me become stronger," said Luo.

Fifth-ranked Olympic gold medalist Jade Jones of Britain, who had lost a very hard-fought epic against Luo in the semifinal, shared the bronze medal with Turkish veteran Hatice Kubra Ilgun.

Meng Mingkuan, Zhou Lijun and Zhang Mengyu of China will compete in men's 87kg, women's 62kg and women's 67kg respectively on Tuesday.
