China's Zheng Qinwen reaches third round at WTA Italian Open

China's Zheng Qinwen edged Alize Cornet of France to reach the third round of the WTA Italian Open here on Thursday.

The 22nd-seeded Zheng, who finished the game 6-3, 7-6(2) in straight sets, was not satisfied with her performance.

"Today, there are a lot of break points that I haven't taken down. And my success rate of break points is still very low. Especially when I was 3-1 up in both sets, I didn't put any more pressure on Cornet and let her come back," said the 21-year-old.

"Hopefully I can do better in the future and improve the game step by step," she added.

Zheng will play Hungarian qualifier Anna Bondar in the next round.
