China's Olympic champion Chen Yufei rolled past South Korea's An Se-young to book her spot in the women's singles final at the 2023 Indonesia Open in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Saturday.
Chen, who defeated An last month in China's third consecutive Sudirman Cup victory, ousted the world No. 2 21-8, 21-17 in Indonesia's landmark badminton arena known as Istora Senayan.
"An was more patient in the second game, and we were engaged in some long rallies, so I put up the pressure on her in the baseline," the 25-year-old said.
Chen will face Carolina Marin of Spain in Sunday's final.
Chinese mixed doubles duo Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong, currently world No. 1, defeated their teammates Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping with scores of 21-19, 21-10 in 42 minutes. Their contenders in the final will be the Japanese duo Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino.
Meanwhile, China's Li Shifeng failed to reach the men's singles final, losing to Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia 21-17, 21-15.
Ginting will face Denmark's Viktor Axelsen on Sunday, who beat India's HS Prannoy 21-15, 21-15 to reach his 10th BWF World Tour Super 1000 final in 11 events.
According to the organizing committee, the Indonesia Open will no longer be held in the historic Istora Senayan starting from next year. It is expected to be staged in the country's brand-new Indoor Multifunction Stadium (IMS) due to larger audience capacity.
