China's women's volleyball team secured victory at the 31st World University Summer Games on Aug. 6, defeating the Japanese team with a score of 3-0 to claim gold. The impressive win marked China's seventh ever gold medal in the event at the Universiade, and their first in 20 years since their last triumph at the Daegu 2003 Summer Universiade.

Following the victory, head coach Zhao Yong expressed his excitement, saying: "The match was exceptionally intense and captivating. This victory is the result of collaborative teamwork; everyone united their efforts, identified issues and actively resolved challenges, working together cohesively. I'm very satisfied with the players' performance."

"China had good skills and also an advantage in height," said Japan coach Masahiro Fujii. "This is what we admire and we'll learn from this. Today both teams staged a tight and exciting match."

Volleyball enjoys immense popularity in China, and coach Zhao hoped that through such high-level international tournaments, more young talent will be inspired to start practicing volleyball from a young age and become a part of the sport.
