China's Wang Xiyu clinched her first WTA Tour singles title on Saturday, defeating Poland's Magda Linette 6-0, 6-2 at the Guangzhou Open.
"It was very exciting and it's a very emotional moment because to play in this tournament, every player is really tough," Wang said after the match.
"It's so difficult to be here on the last day. I'm very happy to be here and I think I cannot say it because it's very emotional," she added.
Ranked No. 88, Wang became the fifth Chinese singles champion in Guangzhou, following Wang Qiang (2018), Zhang Shuai (2017 and 2013), Yan Zi (2005), and Li Na (2004).
She is the third Chinese player to win a WTA tour singles title this season, following Zhu Lin and Zheng Qinwen.
