Jannik Sinner of Italy claimed the China Open title after he won two tie-breaks to beat Daniil Medvedev of Russia in the men's singles final in Beijing on Wednesday.
Both players held their service games throughout the match, but the sixth seeded Italian was unstoppable in the tie-breaks, winning out 7-6 (2), 7-6 (2).
The second-seeded Medvedev led 6-0 in their head-to-head record entering the match. Yet he could not find ways to contain the inspired Sinner, who ousted top seed Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in straight sets in Tuesday's semifinals.
"I felt like today I was serving really well, especially in important moments. Especially in the tie-breaks, I played well," said Sinner after the match.
"But still the important moments in every match, it doesn't really matter who you play, they're very important. Today I also managed somehow that they go my way," he said.

Medvedev said Sinner's better performance at crucial moments was the key for his win.
"(It) came down to the tie-breaks where he was much better than me," said the world No. 3.
"He managed to control his emotions better in these tie-breaks, not make mistakes probably at all I guess. I made some easy ones."
"He served better in these tie-breaks. So he made all the shots and played better tennis," he added.
