David James grabbed 63 points and 21 rebounds to help the Tianjin Pioneers defeat the Guangdong Southern Tigers 133-117, while the Beijing Royal Fighters clinched a 103-97 victory over the Nanjing Monkey Kings to extend their winning streak to seven games.
Guangdong led by three points to enter the second half, but Tianjin bagged 74 points in the rest of the game to claim the road win. James was the most decisive player to make 22 out of his 43 attempts.
"Great team efforts by us. Our guys made good passes and responded every time when Guangdong was making a run," James noted after the game.
Tremont Waters of Guangdong got 40 points, while his teammates Zhou Qi and Hu Mingxuan took 25 and 20 points respectively.
As Nanjing started slow and missed several easy shots in the first quarter, the Beijing Royal Fighters took lead early. Nanjing strengthened the defense, gradually bounced back, but still failed to turn around.
Nanjing's Antonio Blakeney registered a game-high 28 points. Zhang Fan of the Royal Fighters made six three-pointers to bag 24 points.
"Liu Xiaoyu performed great defensively. Zhang also stood out in the second half. The whole team has positive momentum," said the Royal Fighters' head coach Min Lulei.
