Brazilian midfielder Alan demonstrated his prowess to help Qingdao West Coast beat newly-promoted Shenzhen Peng City 2-1 in the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Sunday.
Qingdao broke the deadlock in the 15th minute as Alan's cross found Brayan Riascos, who tapped home.
However, just a minute later, Shenzhen's Swedish striker Samuel Armenteros restored parity when he followed up on a rebound.
In the second half, Shenzhen continued on the front foot with more overseas players on the pitch. In the 58th minute, receiving Thiago Andrade's cross from the left, Jorge Ortiz turned to score, but the goal was ruled out as Andrade had strayed offside.
Qingdao scored what turned out to be the winning goal in the 65th minute, when Duan Liuyu's cross evaded the Shenzhen defenders, allowing Alan to score a comfortable header.
With their win, Qingdao ended a six-game losing streak.
Elsewhere, thanks to Leonardo's goal in the 77th minute from midfielder Franko Andrijasevic's pass, Zhejiang FC edged Cangzhou Mighty Lions 1-0 to condemn the latter to a fourth consecutive defeat.
