Poland's Olympic gold medalist Iga Baumgart-Witan announced that the 2024 Paris Olympic Games will be her final performance on the Olympic stage.
At Tokyo 2020, Baumgart-Witan stood on the podium twice as she won a gold medal in the 4x400 mixed relay and a silver in the 400 women's relay.
"I wonder how I will end my career. How I will convey this, what that day will look like. These are not easy things, especially when I look around and realize that most of my peers on the track have long been on the other side. It's quite hard for me," the 35-year-old told Polish media on Thursday.
"I can say for sure that Paris will be my last dance at the Olympic track. However, I can't declare whether it will also be the last event in my career," Baumgart-Witan added.
The Pole explained why she did not end her career after the Tokyo Games.
"It seemed to be a perfect moment to say goodbye. A great event, a great dream fulfilled. However, I didn't achieve success individually. I felt some dissatisfaction. I think I can still extend the list of my achievements," she concluded.
