Henan FC announced on Monday that former Eintracht Frankfurt striker Yang Chen has been appointed vice general manager of the Chinese Super League (CSL) club.
The 50-year-old will be responsible for managing the senior team and youth development issues, the Henan club said in a statement.
Yang, who played for Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt from 1998 to 2002, fills the vacancy left by Li Weifeng, who resigned on Sunday after a run of poor results by the Henan outfit.
Li chose to quit in order to "protect the coaching staff and players of the senior team who are under pressure," the Henan club said in another statement.
Henan FC currently sit 12th in the CSL table with 10 points from two wins, four draws and six losses.
