Chinese Super League (CSL) club Chengdu Rongcheng announced on Monday that Kim Do-heon has resigned as chief assistant coach in order to become the new head coach at Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC.
"Due to personal reasons, Mr. Kim Do-heon, the chief assistant coach of Chengdu Rongcheng team, has tendered his resignation. He will go to serve as the head coach of South Korea's Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC," the Chengdu club said in a brief statement.
Earlier this season, Kim joined the coaching staff at Chengdu Rongcheng, who currently sit third in the CSL table under the leadership of Kim's fellow countryman Seo Jung-won.
Capped 62 times for South Korea, 41-year-old Kim played for English Premier League side West Bromwich Albion from 2008 to 2009, before finishing his career with U.S. outfit Indy Eleven.
