Jordi Alba netted one goal and set up two others as Eastern Conference leaders Inter Miami were held to a 3-3 home draw by St. Louis in their Major League Soccer (MLS) clash on Saturday.
Chris Durkin opened the scoring for the visitors at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale before Lionel Messi combined with Alba to equalize in the 25th minute.
Indiana Vassilev restored St Louis' advantage but Luis Suarez put the hosts on level terms on the stroke of halftime after another clever exchange involving Alba.
Suarez gifted the Missouri outfit the lead again by inadvertently turning the ball into his own net in the 68th minute.
Inter Miami, however, refused to yield and Alba rolled in an equalizer after latching onto Julian Gressel's lofted pass five minutes from time.
Gerardo Martino's men now have a two-point lead in the Eastern Conference over second-placed Cincinnati, who have two games in hand.
St. Louis are 11th in the Western Conference with 17 points from 15 outings, 16 points adrift of leaders Real Salt Lake.
