River Plate are preparing a bid to sign San Lorenzo's Paraguayan forward Adam Bareiro, according to media reports in Argentina.

But the Buenos Aires giants face competition for the 27-year-old's signature from local rivals Boca Juniors and Brazil's Athletico Paranaense, news outlet Infobae reported on Monday.

Bareiro, who has scored seven goals in 21 appearances across all competitions for San Lorenzo this year, is contracted to the Argentine top flight side until December 31.

According to reports, the attacker has a six million-euro release clause in his contract.

Bareiro has already worn the River Plate shirt, having spent a brief and unsuccessful loan spell at the club in 2016.
