Former Brazil international defender Rodrigo Caio has joined Gremio on a free transfer, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Monday.
The 30-year-old, who had been without a club since parting ways with Flamengo in January, will be tied to the Porto Alegre outfit until December.
Given his history of knee problems, Caio has been given a series of performance-based incentives, including an option to extend his contract beyond 2024, should Gremio agree.
"Rodrigo is a defender with many titles in his career and arrives with all of his multi-champion baggage," Gremio said in a social media post.
Caio has been capped five times for Brazil in a professional career that began at Sao Paulo in 2011.
In 2015, it was reported that the center-back signed a five-year contract with Valencia but the deal collapsed after he failed two medicals.
At Flamengo, Caio won two Copa Libertadores trophies, two Brazilian Serie A titles and a Copa do Brasil crown.
