River Plate have stepped up efforts to sign outgoing Inter Milan forward Alexis Sanchez, according to media reports in Argentina.

The 35-year-old, who will be out of contract on July 1, is also being sought by Udinese and recently promoted Parma, TyC Sports reported on Thursday.

It added that River Plate could hold an advantage in negotiations over their rivals given Sanchez would be guaranteed regular opportunities with the Buenos Aires club.

Sanchez also has fond memories of his first spell with the Argentine outfit in 2007 and 2008, when he scored four goals in 31 outings before his transfer to Udinese, reports said.

The former Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United attacker made just 33 appearances across all competitions for Inter Milan this season, mostly as a substitute.

Despite his lack of playing time with the Serie A champions, Sanchez has been included in Chile's squad for the Copa America, to be played in the United States from June 20 to July 14.
