Data analysis of Euro 2024 teams and players

According to data analysis based on the newly-confirmed Euro 2024 finals squads, 622 players from 219 clubs are participating in the 24-team UEFA Euro 2024 tournament.

1. Where players play

114 players participating in Euro 2024 play in England, followed by Italy (104), with tournament hosts Germany (80) ranking third.

Several players are under contract at clubs outside of Europe such as Iran (1), Qatar (1), South Korea (2), UAE (2), USA (7) and Saudi Arabia (14).

Denmark and Albania take an exceptional position as all their squads' players are under contract outside their home country; Danish players in seven countries (11 in England) while Albanian players compete in 13 countries (10 in Italy).

By contrast, England have only Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid) and Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) playing outside Premier League, followed by Italy with only three outside Serie A (Jorginho of Arsenal, Guglielmo Vicario of Tottenham and Gianluigi Donnarumma of Paris Saint-Germain).

2. Youngest and oldest

Opening match participants Scotland and Germany have the tournament's two oldest squads, with an average age of 28.89 and 28.59 respectfully. By contrast, the Czech Republic have squad with the youngest average age, at 25.74.

Portugal's squad contains the oldest player, with central defender Pepe being 41 years old. Spain have the tournament's youngest player, with Lamine Yamal turning 17 one day ahead of the final on July 13.

3. Most Euro games and goals

Cristiano Ronaldo leads the pack in terms of Euro appearances, with 25 games across 5 Euro tournaments, followed by teammate Pepe with 19 games.

Germany's pair of Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer have each played in 15 Euro matches.

Al-Nassr striker Ronaldo has also scored the most Euro goals, with 14, followed by Antoine Griezmann (France/7), Romelu Lukaku (Belgium/6), and Alvaro Morata (Spain/6).

4. Clubs with most players

Premier League champions Manchester City and Serie A winners Inter Milan both have 13 players in Euro squads, with PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona each laying on 12 players.

German Bundesliga is the only league with three clubs providing double-digit numbers of players, with Bayern and RB Leipzig (11) and new champions Bayer Leverkusen (10).
