Israeli EuroCup club Hapoel Tel Aviv announced on Wednesday the signing of former NBA player Ish Wainright to a two-season contract.

The 29-year-old forward played in the NBA for the past three seasons, averaging 3.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game in 109 regular-season games with the Phoenix Suns and seven more with the Portland Trail Blazers. He also appeared in 13 NBA playoff games with Phoenix.

Earlier in his career, Wainright played college basketball for the Baylor Bears, where he was named to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team. Between 2018 and 2021, he played in Europe, including stints with Germany's Nurnberg Falcons and Rasta Vechta, as well as France's SIG Strasbourg.

"Ish is one of the toughest players a basketball fan can expect to see on the court," said Hapoel's general manager George Hinas. "He is a true competitor who thinks first of his teammates and not himself."

Wainright expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I can't wait to get on the court, start working with the other members of the team, and bring victories to the club and the amazing fans."
