Colombian striker Miguel Borja came off the bench to score twice as River Plate earned a 2-2 home draw with Lanus in Argentina's Primera Division on Sunday.

Marcelino Moreno gave the visitors the lead just after halftime with a cool finish after combining with Jonatan Torres before Borja, a 54th-minute replacement for Rodrigo Aliendro, equalized with a low strike just after the hour.

Torres appeared to hand his side a dramatic victory when he headed home following Moreno's cross in the second minute of stoppage time.

But the game took another twist two minutes later as Borja latched onto Adam Bareiro's cross to bundle home from close range.

Borja has now scored 24 goals in 26 matches across all competitions for River Plate this year.

"I told the manager [Martin Demichelis] that I really wanted to play," said Borja, who returned to Argentina during the week after representing Colombia at the Copa America in the United States.

"I wanted to play as many minutes as possible. I think the most important thing is that I was able to contribute and help the team to at least salvage a point."

The result at River's Monumental Stadium leaves the Buenos Aires outfit seventh in the 28-team standings with 10 points from six outings, a point ahead of 11th-placed Lanus.

In other Primera Division fixtures on Sunday, Platense won 2-0 at Central Cordoba, Union Santa Fe drew 0-0 at Estudiantes, Defensa y Justicia was held to a 2-2 home draw by Boca Juniors and Velez Sarsfield cruised to a 3-0 home win over Talleres Cordoba.
