Colombia's Independiente Medellin scored twice in each half to romp to a 4-0 home win over Chilean side Palestino and earn a place in the Copa Sudamericana quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Ivan Hurtado gifted the hosts an early lead in their round of 16 second-leg clash when he inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, and Jaime Alvarado doubled the advantage just before halftime.

Leyser Chaverra converted from the penalty spot just after the hour and Baldomero Perlaza completed the rout with a 67th-minute goal.

The result at Hernan Ramirez Stadium in the western Colombian city of Pereira gave Independiente Medellin a 6-2 victory on aggregate.

In Argentina, Lanus cruised to a 3-1 home win over Ecuador's LDU Quito to advance 5-2 on aggregate.

And Brazil's Fortaleza reached the competition's last eight courtesy of a 3-1 home win over Argentine side Rosario Central. The result handed Fortaleza a 4-2 win on aggregate.
