Former China captain Hao Junmin has joined the coaching staff of Chinese Super League (CSL) club Cangzhou Mighty Lions.
The 37-year-old midfielder played his last international game in China's 1-1 draw against Saudi Arabia on March 24, 2022, and has since faded from the spotlight.
Hao appeared in a tracksuit in a team training photo posted by the Cangzhou club on Sunday.
Club media official Zhao Boqing confirmed that Hao has become a member of the CSL side's coaching team.
"Welcome on board, Mr. Hao Junmin, who is on a rescue mission," Zhao wrote on social media.
Hao, who has not yet officially announced his retirement as a player, is expected to work alongside Li Xiaopeng, who was appointed head coach of the Cangzhou club last month, to help save the struggling CSL side.
Cangzhou Mighty Lions currently sit 13th in the CSL table with 24 points, just two points above the relegation zone.
