FC Barcelona face being without goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen for the rest of the season after he suffered what appears to be a serious knee injury in their 5-1 win away to Villarreal on Sunday.

Ter Stegen had to be helped from the pitch after landing badly while claiming a corner early in the second half of his side's triumph in the Estadio de la Ceramica.
He was taken directly to a hospital in the nearby city of Castellon, with early diagnosis saying he has suffered an injury to the patellar tendon in his right knee. If the German has torn the tendon, he is looking at eight months on the sidelines.
Ter Stegen injured the same knee in August 2020, needing two operations before returning to full fitness.
