Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe will miss this Sunday's derby away to Atletico Madrid after suffering a muscle injury in his side's 3-2 win at home to Alaves on Tuesday night.

The forward was taken off with 10 minutes left to play after noticing something in his left leg and the tests carried out on Wednesday have confirmed his injury.
"Following tests carried out today on Kylian Mbappe, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg," explained the Real Madrid website, adding that his progress "will be monitored."
Although the club didn't give a return date, the news means Mbappe has no chance of being fit for Sunday's visit to the Metropolitano Stadium and next week's Champions League visit to Lille, as well as being a major doubt for the following weekend's La Liga game against Villarreal.
