Atletico Madrid's visit to play Celta Vigo is the most interesting of the three remaining games of La Liga's matchday seven to be played on Thursday.

Atletico travel to the northwest of Spain after dropping two points in their derby away to Rayo Vallecano and just three days before they entertain Real Madrid in the Metropolitano Stadium.

Atletico are very unhappy that Real Madrid, who had a narrow win at home to Alaves on Tuesday night, have two extra days to prepare for Sunday's game, and coach Diego Simeone will carry out some squad rotations to try and keep his squad as fresh as possible for such an important game.

Clement Lenglet is likely to make his first appearance since joining from Barcelona, while Robin Le Normand and Antoine Griezmann are also in line for a start.

Atletico were poor in the first half in Sunday's draw, dropping two vital points in the sort of game they need to win if they are to challenge for this season's La Liga title.

Celta will present a threat to Simeone's side, given that they play expansive attacking football and create plenty of chances, with only Real Madrid and Barcelona scoring more goals in La Liga so far this season.

However, as their 3-1 defeat to Athletic Bilbao showed on Sunday, they are vulnerable to the balls crossed into their area, which could be good news for Atletico striker Alexander Sorloth.

Thursday's remaining matches see Las Palmas continue to search for their first win of the season when they entertain Real Betis, who have had little recovery time from Monday's home defeat to Mallorca.

Espanyol are at home to Villarreal after impressing for an hour away to Real Madrid last weekend and with striker Javi Puado in excellent form.

Villarreal lost 5-1 to Barcelona on Sunday, but were also better than the final score implies, and Marcelino's side will hope for better luck in front of goal after seeing three efforts ruled out at the weekend.
