England coach Lee Carsley has handed Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke his first international call-up since 2017 as a reward for his positive start to the season.

Solanke has netted three times since joining Tottenham from Bournemouth over the summer, and has been included along with fellow strikers, Ollie Watkins and captain Harry Kane, for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Greece and Finland.

Chelsea's in-form Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden are also included in Carsley's squad after having to drop out of his first two games as coach with injury and sickness issues.

Meanwhile, Newcastle defender Tino Livramento drops out, along with Harry Maguire, Jarrod Bowen and Eberechi Eze.

"It was a chance of having a look at other players. It's nothing to do with form. It's looking at the next two camps to look at other players," said Carsley when asked about the absentees.

The coach said Solanke had been close to inclusion in his first squad and also praised Palmer, who scored four goals against Brighton last weekend.

"Knowing Cole for a number of years, seeing how he has progressed, he takes every challenge in his stride. He doesn't get too high or low, that's a great attribute to have as a professional footballer," he said.

Carsley is only in the job on a temporary basis after Gareth Southgate stepped down following the 2024 UEFA Euro, and he wasn't willing to look too far into the future.

"It's really clear what my remit is: take the team in the three England camps," said Carsley, commenting he was "comfortable" with his situation.

Full squad:

Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson, Jordan Pickford, Nick Pope.

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Conor Gallagher, Morgan Gibbs-White, Angel Gomes, Kobbie Mainoo, Cole Palmer, Declan Rice.

Forwards: Anthony Gordon, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, Noni Madueke, Bukayo Saka, Dominic Solanke, Ollie Watkins.
