Brazil manager Dorival Junior said on Monday that his team must improve quickly to steady its faltering World Cup qualifying campaign.

The five-time world champions, currently fifth in the South American qualifying group, will meet Chile in Santiago on Thursday and Peru in Brasilia five days later.

"These will be crucial, very important games," Dorival said in a video published on the Brazilian Football Confederation's website.

"We are in a situation in which we need results. I hope we can be well prepared and play our best football. We are going to do everything possible to win both matches while respecting our opponents at all times."

Brazil have won just three of their first eight games in the 18-game CONMEBOL qualifying tournament.

Another poor double header of fixtures could see them drop out of the automatic qualifying places for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Dorival encouraged his players not to forgo their attacking instincts against Chile and Peru, despite the team's precarious position in the standings.

"I hope we can play on our terms, always looking to be offensive and as close as possible to the opponent's area. We have the capacity to play this way," he added.
