Alianza Lima defender Erick Noriega has been called up to Peru's squad for World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil, the Peruvian football federation said on Monday.
The entity did not give a reason for Noriega's inclusion but it is understood he is on standby for a teammate who is an injury doubt for the matches.
The 22-year-old, who was born in Japan to Peruvian parents, made his international debut in a friendly against Nicaragua in March.
Peru will meet Uruguay in Lima on Friday and Brazil in Brasilia four days later.
The Blanquirroja are currently last in the 10-team South American zone standings with just three points from eight games.
