Lionel Messi scored three goals in 11 minutes as Inter Miami recovered from two goals down to cruise to a 6-2 home win over New England in Major League Soccer on Saturday.

Luca Langoni and Dylan Borrero handed the visitors a 2-0 advantage with little more than half an hour played before Luis Suarez struck twice to equalize just before halftime.

Ben Cremaschi gave the Florida side the lead with a 58th-minute goal and Messi, a 57th-minute substitute for David Martinez, made it 4-2 with a stunning long-range effort.

The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner then beat the offside trap to run onto Jordi Alba's pass and slot home from eight yards.

Messi completed his hat-trick with a volley from the edge of the six-yard box after Suarez's acrobatic cut-back from the right side of the penalty area.

It marked the 37-year-old's second hat-trick in as many games after he also scored three times in Argentina's 6-0 home win over Bolivia in their World Cup qualifier last Tuesday.

The result at Chase Stadium meant Inter Miami finished top of the MLS Eastern Conference standings with 74 points from 34 games.

Gerardo Martino's squad will begin their post-season campaign with a home clash against the winner of Tuesday's fixture between CF Montreal and Atlanta United.
